Jeff King is no stranger to long-distance travel, whether it’s the brutally tough Iditarod Race or driving from his home in Alaska south across the continent to see friends in the Lower 48 — with a side stop in Revelstoke to try out a Pawtrekker dog scooter, for which Colin Horkley is the North American distributor.
“I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time,” said the four-time Iditarod winner. “You have to exercise sled dogs a lot. I tried it with a little scooter and almost broke my neck. Then I saw an ad for the Pawtrekker in a magazine, found out that the area code (of the number in the ad) was in British Columbia and decided to stop here and try out a Pawtrekker.”
King enjoyed it so much he bought one. In fact, he liked it so much he may become a Pawtrekker distributor when he returns to Alaska.
“He bought a Pawtrekker to use over the winter and will be back in April on his way back to Alaska and will hopefully pick up more of the new model,” Kathryn Horkley said. “He is keeping in touch and says hopefully we can work together as Jeff might, depending on the reaction he gets with the scooter, become a distributor… he was very keen.”
